About SDHC

Types of available Food Assistance

Households with eligible members can receive an EBT card to purchase additional food at participating grocery stores and farmers markets.

Click here for College Student Eligibility.

Sun Bucks (Summer EBT) helps families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer.

School breakfast and school lunch is free to all K-12 students in California.

WIC provides support for pregnant and recently pregnant women, and children ages 0-5.

Meals are available for adults aged 60 and older. Home delivered meals are available for home-bound adults aged 60 and older.

Food Distributions provide shelf-stable staples and fresh foods. They are available to all San Diego residents, and many have drive-thru or home delivery options.

Finding Food Assistance

There are many ways to access food assistance when money is tight. Our flyers describe available food resources in San Diego County, are updated every 3 months, and offered in 13 languages. Below are flyers for the county and select communities.

H.R. 1 Changes Coming to CalFresh Webinar

Community-based organizations are invited to join one of our free informational trainings on the upcoming HR 1 changes taking effect later this year.

This session will cover what is changing, when those changes will be implemented, and who will be impacted, with a specific focus on CalFresh households and CalFresh policy rules. The training will highlight how these changes may affect eligibility, benefits, and reporting requirements, and will provide practical information to help CBOs support CalFresh participants during the transition.

We offer free monthly CalFresh Application Assistance 101 trainings to equip partners with tools to connect eligible San Diegans to benefits. Custom trainings are also available to meet specific needs.
